Teaching Philosophy

Being a teacher is something that I've always wanted to experience since elementary school. Just the thought of how I can help the next generation while I am teaching and preparing them to get ready for the real world is something that just seems really passionate to me. Even though there are lots of teachers around the world, are all of them successful? Being a successful teacher is something that not everyone can do, but there are many ways that can help someone become the successful teacher they want to be. One thing a teacher could do is to let the students have free open thinking to their imaginations with no restrictions at all. This is the form of letting students be makers and letting them be able to think freely as teachers should not restrain students thinking at all. It is important for the students to think that they are makers and that they can think infinitely, so that they know they have the ability to create and imagine just as others do. Another concept that teachers can use is the “token economy” that is used for behaviorism. This is a great concept because studies have shown that it has improved academic performance and disruptive behavior in students has gone down. Behavior is really important in the classroom, teachers should be able to see how each student acts and help them get on track to get more engaged with the classroom and academically as well. Being able to respond to all sorts of questions and answers even if they are right or wrong is something a successful teacher should learn to do. Teachers need to be responsive to anything that can come their way from a student's dialogue, moods/behavior, and even their attention to the class. During this responsive style of teaching, teachers also need to learn how to not bring a student down negatively, so that students are still motivated to learn in the classroom. Students learn best in groups. Fellow classmates may have different methods of learning that are more efficient and easier to understand compared to the teacher’s way of presenting the material. Instead of creating a competitive academic environment, students are able to share different ideas and tips to help those who may struggle to grasp a certain concept. I think the best method of assessing what students know is to give them assessments without a grade and group them with those who have difficulty understanding the same concept. This method would allow the student to focus more on learning rather than just getting the answers right on the exam.

Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.
